CASTING BREAKDOWN

Total cast: 3 women, 1 man. All described ages are approximate.

Fran – Female, mid 30s–early 50s. Smart, funny, and tired. She’s broke, chronically single, and carrying more family responsibility than she lets on. Defensive humor and a Brooklyn edge, but with a really tender core once she trusts you. Needs someone who can play both banter and grief.

Owen – Male, late 40s–50s. Owner of the laundromat. Direct, decent, a little banged up by life but still believes in connection. Blue-collar warmth, not slick. Chemistry with Fran should feel unlikely-but-right.

Trish – Female, 40s–60s. Fran’s sister who is seriously ill. Sharp, honest, and still funny even when things are rough. There’s history in this relationship- love, guilt, obligation. Actor should be able to play vulnerability without sentimentality.

Susie – Female, 30s–50s. The other sister. More outspoken, more “say the thing out loud,” and not afraid to challenge Fran’s choices. A source of tough love and family reality. Good role for someone with strong contemporary timing.

CASTING BREAKDOWN

Total cast: 3 women, 3 men. All described ages are approximate.

Sylvia – Female, 20s–50s. Romantic, impulsive, and emotionally bold. She believes honesty is the highest virtue—even when it detonates everyone else’s lives. Big heart, big choices, excellent comic instincts. Must balance sincerity with fearless farce.

Beau – Male, 20s–50s. Sylvia’s lover. Charming, confident, and deeply unprepared for consequences. He thinks he’s in control until everything proves otherwise. Strong comedic timing and physical comedy chops a must.

Clarke – Male, 30s–60s. Sylvia’s husband. Proper, British, and emotionally restrained—until the cracks begin to show. Starts composed and slowly unravels in increasingly hilarious ways. Needs precision, restraint, and a knack for escalation.

Marjorie – Female, 30s–60s. Beau’s wife. Sharp, perceptive, and underestimated at first glance. Carries quiet authority and emotional intelligence. A grounded presence who still fully commits to the comedy.

Dierdre – Female, 20s–50s. Clarke’s sister. Blunt, witty, and refreshingly unconcerned with social niceties. A catalyst for chaos with impeccable timing. Great role for someone who enjoys playing bold and unapologetic.

Richard – Male, 20s–50s. A man of faith with surprising confidence and edge. Earnest without being naïve, and very comfortable speaking his truth. Needs to be grounded, funny, and open-hearted.
